Consistency, Consistency, Consistency.

When the New Year starts it’s common for many of us to reaffirm the promises we have made to ourselves. It’s also common to make new promises. Ideally, we should be able to charge towards our goals without hesitation. However, many a time the realities of life come knocking in the form of a life-changing event.

As a result, the battle to maintain consistency ensues, pushing us to our limits, and sometimes draining us of the same zest we possessed at the time of making resolutions. Believe me, I write this post having been in the very same situation with goals to meet, but having to juggle them with unexpected circumstances outside of my control.

When such circumstances appear, it can be a feat to remain consistent. In situations such as these I have found there is no harm or law against reviewing priorities in order to get the best outcomes. 

Resist the urge to throw in the towel because the plan you had envisaged or written on paper is not playing out exactly as planned. ‘Life happens’, and as much as we can talk, discuss, plan everything to a ‘T’, and think we’ve covered all eventualities—situations outside of our control may still arise.

If and when they do, we must be kind to ourselves in our efforts to remain consistent. Push forward and celebrate the mini achievements along the way. Remember, in every minuscule action we take towards achieving our goals, we are making changes to our futures for the better.
